BF No.6 of Kunming Steel
On July 22, 2011, BF#6 of Kunming Steel (WISCO Group) was blown in to start its 2nd campaign after technical revamping designed by CISDI. At 9 a.m. on July 23, hot metal was tapped successfully from the BF, 11 days ahead of the schedule.
BF#6 of Kunming Steel was designed by CISDI and put into operation in 1998 (with designed campaign of 8 years). By 2011, totally 20mt hot metal was produced and the average hot metal output is over 10,000t/m3 in one campaign, with many operating data leading in China. The technical revamping covers overhaul of BF proper, annular gap, PCI and hot stove #3.
BF#6 of Kunming Steel has set many records in China: the first “mixed-blood” BF in China; the largest modern BF in southwestern China, the first BF in China using imported second-handed equipment; the longest campaign life (12 years)….. As the BF under-hearth is damaged due to continuous deposition of heavy metal in burden, and the BF proper become inclined, the BF was shut down for 99 days overhaul from April 9, 2011. The revamping works was successfully completed on July 11.
