On August 10th, 2017, the blast furnace top gas recovery turbine (TRT) unit supplied by CISDI under an EPC contract for #1 blast furnace at Formosa Ha Tinh Steel (FHS), Vietnam, went into successful grid-connected power generation.
Completely homegrown in China, the TRT unit, employing the state-of-the-art horizontal radial gas suction and axial gas exhaust construction, is designed to generate power by utilizing the blast furnace top gas pressure energy. It directs the blast furnace gas cleaned in the annular gap scrubbers into the turbine where the gas is expanded to do work to actuate the power generator for power generation. Equipped with computerized automatic control of the blast furnace top gas pressure, the TRT unit can perform unattended operation.
The TRT unit of #1 Blast Furnace at FHS, with a designed capacity of 20MW, is able to generate power of approximately 140,000MWh, equivalent to economic benefits about 9 million US dollars per annum.
