Successful Upgrading of Braking System for BF Skip Car Hoist

The first BF skip car hoist with braking system upgraded by Beijing Tieforce Driving Machine Co., Ltd. was successfully put into use on May 1, 2013, and proved satisfactory after full-load operation test, high-speed fast stop test and operation & charging test with individual motor.
TBSD dual-drive BF skip car hoist is developed by Beijing Tieforce Driving Machine Co., Ltd. for blast furnaces of 1,000m3 and above, and has been well received in the market. The components are being continuously improved to adapt to the market.
The novel BF skip car hoist braking system has following merits:
1 The existing φ630mm wheel-type brake is replaced with φ500mm disc brake, so the moment of inertia is reduced by 5/6, contributing to lower operational cost due to electricity saving of app. 30,000kW*h per year.
2 The reduction in moment of inertia can reduce the skip car traveling distance (especially at high speed) on rail once brake is activated.
3 The motor current at skip acceleration section is significantly reduced, which reduces the impact of acceleration current upon motor temperature rise.
4 The surfaces of braking disc are all machined with high precision, so static balance tests are not necessary.
