China’s 1^st mass application of post-rolling water cooling process in large-diameter round steel production

The 130mm round bar cooled by water cooling equipment revamped by CISDI on EPC basis for Suzhou Suxin Special Steel Co., Ltd. successfully passed the acceptance test by the Owner on March 22, 2013. Suxin Special Steel becomes the first large-diameter round bar producer implemented with post-rolling water cooling technology in mass in China.

The round bar under controlled cooling are sized 70mm~140mm, mainly bearing steel, non-quenched/tempered steel and high-grade gear steel.

The water cooling revamping project, intended to improve the product property and hence market competitiveness, covers installation of secondary descaling device before finishing block, dual-gear ratio reducer for finishing block, and water cooling facilities after finishing block. Grouping table, pusher type preheating furnace, start-stop type hydraulic shear, short-stress rolling mill, 3-roll reducing & sizing line, diameter gauge and on-line inspecting equipment shall be installed later on. It took 4.5 months from start of design to successful start of operation, but the line was stopped for only 15 days.
