The technology of achieving high blast temperature in top-combustion hot stoves using low-calorific gas developed by CISDI and Shougang Shuicheng Steel jointly was assessed by Chongqing Science & Technology Commission on March 28, 2012.
Seven experts from University of Science and Technology Beijing, Chongqing Steel Group, Luoyang Refractory Research Institute, etc. have spoken high of this technology as it greatly promoted the development of top-combustion hot stoves technology in China, and its application in Shuicheng Steel has proved successful, with several data reaching world level. This technology can contribute to energy efficiency, emission reduction, productivity increase and consumption decrease.
With this technology, low-calorific gas can be used to achieve high blast temperature for BF, featuring lower cost and smaller land occupancy. It can increase the blast temperature by app. 100°C compared with similar-sized BFs, offering benefits such as high thermal efficiency, simple control and long equipment service life. The vortex burners arranged in a stagger way is the core technology, which allows complete combustion at very low excess air, featuring high combustion efficiency, high temperature, low O and CO level in fume, uniform fume distribution at checker chamber section.
This technology has found successful application in 13 blast furnaces in past two years, with total contract value over RMB1.1 billion.
