Cooling technology & equipment development for hot rolling mills is among main research subjects of CISDI. In 2011 CISDI launched task study on in-line tube cooling, high-efficiency laminar cooling and off-line tube quenching device and these devices are currently being commissioned on site.
Task I: On-line Tube Cooling
CISDI was contracted by Baoji Petroleum Tube Co., Ltd. in 2011 to supply the fast cooling of hot stretch reducing line on EPC basis. As required by the Owner, the cooling equipment is quite challenging as it shall ensure increase of cooled tube strength and good cooling uniformity circumferentially and longitudinally. With close coloration with universities and manufacturers, and through numerous tests and design optimization, CISDI eventually accomplished the cooling equipment development and manufacturing on schedule. Nine cooling water tanks were properly installed in late October for hot commissioning.
Task II: High-efficiency Laminar Cooling
To cater to Xinjiang Bayi Steel’s stringent desire to produce X80 hot rolled heavy strips, CISDI undertook this task on May 2011. Through study, development, design, manufacturing and prototype test, the high-efficiency laminar cooling device incorporating four patented technologies are installed and program commissioned on site.
Task III: Off-line Tube Quenching
CISDI completed the installation and individual test of off-line tube quenching device for Valin-Xigang φ258 tube mills in Nov. 2011, and the equipment is running well, ready for the final acceptance test with full line in operation. This is the first off-line tube quenching device developed by CISDI in-house. With this technology, CISDI successfully won the order to supply φ140mm tube water quenching for Jiangyin Huarui Co. on EP basis.
