Being the First Independent Technical Modernization for HSM in China
CISDI Provides Core Technology for the Process, Equipment and Automation System of the Line.
The 1,700mm hot strip mill modernized by CISDI for Jinan Steel on EPC basis started mass production of 1.8mm SPHC (a feed stock for cold rolling strip) on July 2, 2014, after nearly one year of production and necessary improvement. It can roll at least 20 consecutive thin-gauge products during one service life of roll, which marks a technology breakthrough in HSM automation and control.
This is China's first hot strip rolling line revamped with Chinese core technology for process, equipment and automation control. CISDI, as the EPC contractor for the line, has mastered the core technology for the entire hot strip line.
As the Chinese steel industry is having a hard time, the technical revamping for 1,700mm HSM of Jinan Steel sets a good example for other steel producers to improve their competitiveness by optimizing the product mix, reducing the cost and enhancing the quality.
The 1700mm hot strip line was put into operation in 2006, designed with annual capacity of 2.5 million ton, using ASP process and 135mm slabs. CISDI was contracted in 2011 to provide technical modernization for the line on EPC basis, covering: installation of coil box, finishing mill F0, replacement of roll bending/shifting device for existing finishing mill F1-F6, installation of step plate level adjustment for backup roll, installation of intensive laminar cooling and updating of automation and control system for the entire line. The revamping successfully passed the hot test-run on September 12, 2014, and the coils for first hot test were set up on-line by L2 model.
