CISDI was contracted by Shanghai Shengda Minerals Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes Co., Ltd. in late September 2014 to provide design for its 3x35MW generator unit in Indonesia.

Indonesia is blessed with abundant reserve of laterite nickel ore, and China imports a large quantity of nickel ore from Indonesia every year as nickel is essential for stainless steel smelting, so Indonesian miners have to build smelters to process the primary minerals for exportation. In this context, a joint venture is formed by Harita Group Co., Ltd. (Indonesia) and Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes Group Co., Ltd. (China) to build a ferronickel alloy plant and captive power plant.
