Contract Signing Ceremony
October 10, 2013 witnessed the signing ceremony between CISDI and Tanzania China Mineral Resources Ltd. of Hongda Group at the headquarter of Hongda Group. CISDI will provide engineering design for the greenfield 1Mt/a integrated steelworks at Liganga in Tanzania which was invested by Hongda Group. Mr. Liu Jun, the CEO of Hongda Group, and Mr. Yu Zhaohui, the president of CISDI Group, presented and delivered speeches in the signing ceremony. Mr. Huang Daxiong, the CEO of Tanzania China Mineral Resources Ltd., and Mr. Chen Shaochun, the vice president of CISDI, personally signed the contract as representatives.
The integrated steelworks project will be another major world’s attention following the Tanzania-Zambia Railway project since China and Tanzania established the diplomatic relations. It will be the biggest industrial project in Tanzania as of its startup. Worthy of mentioning is that it has become CISDI’s 1st engineering project on the African land.
In the international bidding process for the integrated steelworks at Liganga, Hongda Group won the bids for Mchuchuma coal mine and Liganga V-Ti magnetite projects. Tanzania China Mineral Resources Ltd. was entrusted building the pithead fired coal power generation plant with installed capacity of 4x150,000kW and constructional steel plant with annual capacity of 1,000,000t. It was reported that completion of such projects would bring about at least 25% increase in Tanzania GDP, significant rise of fiscal revenue and substantial employment opportunities. Concurrently, the great deal of project construction investment would actively stimulate the relevant industries’ development in Tanzania, which could offer a good solution to existing imbalance between power supply and demand as well as full dependence upon expensive steel importation.
