May 17, 2013 witnessed the ground-breaking ceremony in Zhanjiang for blast furnace plant, the first process unit of Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Base (Baosteel Group) which is designed by CISDI. Zhao Zhouli, the chairman of the board of Zhanjiang Steel announced the start of BF construction.  

Two 5,050 m³ BFs will be installed in Phase I. The first BF is scheduled to be built by the end of 2015 and the second to start operation in June 2016. Based on patents, technical know-how as well as wide experiences in operation and maintenance, CISDI will present world-leading blast furnaces to Baosteel, with new breakthrough in energy efficiency, environmental emission and cost control.

With further reduction in the imported portion of BF refractory and equipment, the blast furnaces in Zhanjiang Steel will become the first 5,000m³-class BF in China to be installed with local-made top de alto-forno charging system, blower system, TRT system and refractory at under-hearth.
