Effective collection and treatment of dust generated during the production is an important subject of energy saving & environmental protection for steelmakers. For a long period, dedusting system in this area is designed from experience according to process requirement. The lack of theory support results in poor dedusting efficiency, unbalanced air distribution and high air flow with high electric consumption.

To find solution for above problem and provide technical assistance for dedusting system optimization, CISDI set up a R&D team consisting of experts in ventilation/CAE/steel-making/iron-making. So far considerable progress had been made from simulation analysis and on-line tests. Methodology for air flow calculation and pipe network balance distribution calculation has been developed and a complete CAE simulation model for steel plant dedusting has been set up.
 
This research achievement have been successfully applied in dedusting system renovation for relading station in Bayi steel, secondary dedusting (air flow balance) of converter in Weiyuan steel, dedusting system commissioning & diagnosis of #4 BF cast house in Shuicheng Steel and secondary dedusting system diagnosis of #1 converter in Chongqing Steel, etc. It has successfully applied for five patents.
 
After technical study and testing, this subject is being technically developed and optimized, and is estimated to be concluded by the end of 2012.
