Integrated on-load test of Ruimu Nickel & Cobalt Project was started in Papua New Guinea on Feb. 29, 2012, for which CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd and Chongqing CISDI Engineering Consulting Co. Ltd. provided engineering, construction supervision, equipment manufacturing supervision and cost consulting service. 70,000m3 pulp arrived at the smelting plant on March 4 through 135km-long pipe continuously. On March 19, the first batch of nickel cobalt hydroxide were produced by press filter.
The project process flow is proved logical and the construction quality is proved up to standard by on-load test.
Ruimu Nickel & Cobalt Project consists of mines, pulp pipes and smelting plant, occupying 240km2. The wet lateritic-Nickel-Ore smelting process is imported, and the pulp pipe is so far the largest conveying pipes in the world. The project consist of 172 sub-projects, with designed capacity of 5.7mt/a lateritic mining & separation, 160,000t/a ferrochromium concentrate washing & dressing, 73,000t/a intermediate nickel-cobalt product (equivalent to 32,000t/a nickel and 3300t/a cobalt).
